|4th July 2009, Split – After National Geographic Magazine featured a bilingual special issue “Croatia Ablaze“ under the sponsorship of INA d.d., fire prevention education began in Split harbor, which took place every Saturday until the end of August.
Specially trained informants spent all day in Split harbour providing information to tourists about the prevention of forest fires whilst they were boarding ferries to the Central Dalmatian islands. Each person received a copy of the issue which raised awareness about the dangers of forest fires and fire safety in general.
The project was supported by the Croatian Ministry of Defense, the Port of Split, Jadrolinija, and the main fire station in Split. The beautiful Korana Gvozdić took care of attracting the public and media for this fire prevention project.
